Dhuni Incense

Just wanted to mention this company’s remarkable incense, eight champa/flora styles all made with the highest quality ingredients. What particularly impressed me was their nag champa, which is the most authentic version of the (straight) scent I’ve smelled in 15 years or so. I will have reviews of these coming up after the holidays but it would be remiss of me not to mention them now as the packages would make nice holiday gifts. And while a scent or two of these are similar to other incenses, I think these could be the best versions (for instance Kashi is similar to Honey Dust or Satya Natural but better quality). Definitely a line you want right along with your Shroff, Mother’s and Pure Incense offerings.

I have placed an order for my first dhuni incenses, Khus and Nag Champa, and I can hardly wait for their arrival.

I saw Kevan’s comment below about some vetivers being green and light, and some dark and smoky. I have smelled vetiver essential oil that was very grassy, I have a bottle of vetiver eo that smells like wet campfire and I love them both.

Did one of you in the meantime already did compare Dhuni with Mothers?!!

I do have all Mothers Champa’s, very easy to get as a Moeder’s shop is at 50 meters walk from me, and I was wondering what to start and order from Dhuni.

    Any advice is welkom!

Hi Suni, thanks for reading. I’d click on the link above in orange that says “this company” which will take you to the Dhuni website.

Glenn, I know you’re trying to be helpful, but let’s stop crossposting like this, it’s unnecessary. Thanks.

Hamid, thanks for the original alert to this companies incenses. I’ve had great satisfaction after following up two other indian incenses you’ve suggested, the Sandal Supreme from http://www.Minimela.com (look under Puja Supplies) and the Pure-Incense Absolute Rose, this latter I’ve since found for sale as lose sticks at a local market.

Beth, I’d only just ordered the Nag Champa and the Khus from Dhuni when you had added your comment! Synchronicity needs a fine adjustment at my end, I’ve tappd it with a box of incense since so that should fix it.

Mike, How could I not try the Nag Champa when you write “most authentic version of the (straight) scent I’ve smelled in 15 years or so”. 🙂

I received the Nag Champa and the Khus just before christmas. I have had some time to light and evaluate both since. I’m very pleased I took up the gauntlet to place my tiny order.

The Nag Champa I found to be really smooth sweet warm and satisfying with nothing rough around the edges. Once lit it repeatedly alerted me to its presence as I went about my business, sort of like how Mike described Minorien Ryugen once, ie…

“This is an incense that demands one’s attention constantly during the burn.” – Mike

Will be a staple in the stable from now on.

The Khus is right out there, lively green and keen alright, fresh, sharp edged and again very fulfilling, this is one vibrant incense. I feel now that I finally know how good Vetiver smells, I’m very happy about that.

I very much liked the rustic green cardboard packaging around the incenses. It appears handmade, also liked that real sealing wax and a seal was used to close each packet.

I got good service with attention to detail. I also took the opportunity to ask after samples and though they don’t offer them due to unit cost, all the same there was included in the package a single stick each of Special Amber, Kashi, Hari Om and Moksha, very grateful for that!

It was suggested that Lotus Flower and Citronella which are also available from Dhuni on the UK are both excellent at keeping mosquitoes etc away.

I was on the fence about the Khus Hamid. I ended up not buying it because vetiver can either be fresh and light or dark and smoky, and I didn’t want it to be the latter.

      How would you describe it?

Kevan, Hamid describes the Khus and offers other insights for the Dhuni incenses in his initial comment about them which can be found here.

“I will talk about is their Khus, which is a rich , deep, vibrant vetiver. These sticks really carry a big wallop of the green and sweet herbal aroma of vetiver, in a balanced bouquet of perfume with no off or synthetic notes.” – Hamid

Hmmm. So it’s “green and sweet”. That’s good. I might buy a box when Essence of the Ages gets them in, then.

I would definitely put them at the ” fresh and light” end of the spectrum Kevan,

I just bought 5 of their incenses the other night and I’m eagerly awaiting their transit across the Atlantic. I ordered Nag Champa, Hari Om, Kashi, Moksha and Amber. Glad to hear they’re great incenses.
